Museum Collection
Our museum is filled with items reflecting
our rich Chippewa traditions. There are sculptures created by our
many talented local stone carvers, and painting by both young and old artists.
Our traditional history collection includes many objects that show our
unique culture in all its physical beauty. And we have an archives
room which is useful to those conducting scholarly or genealogical research.
We also have 3 dioramas showing our transition from the woodlands to the
plains, and a recreated Red River ox cart is reflective of the Metis culture
also found among our people. We welcome you to stop by and take a
step back in the rich history of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians
of North Dakota.
Some of our items are
permanent to the museum and were donated by our tribal members so that
future generations could enjoy the history and culture. Recent travelling
exhibits include a birch bark scroll display.
